Bone Carvings Bolo Tie - Feather and Skull

This beautifully crafted bolo tie is centered with a buffalo skull with an intricately detailed face carved out of cow bone. This piece is about 2.25 inches across and just under 3 inches tall. The carving is glued onto a bolo clip. The leather is decorated with two pieces of bone tips, carved into feathers. Bolo rope, including tips is about 39 inches in length.

Quillwork is one of the many traditional art forms of the Lakota people. There is a lot of time and work that goes into quillwork. The quills are removed from a porcupine, then are cleaned, dyed, soaked until pliable and woven or sewn into designs unique to every family or tribe. Quillwork is not water resilient and should be well taken care of.
