Bolo Tie - Turquoise Medicine Wheel
Bolo Tie - Turquoise Medicine Wheel
This beautifully crafted bolo tie is made with a quilled medicine wheel that is tacked down on leather. The leather is partially beaded with size 10 beads. The medallion is 3 inches in diameter. The peyote stitch on both ends are just over .5 inches long and leather fringe is 4 inches in length. Bolo rope is 35 inches in length.
Quillwork is one of the many traditional art forms of the Lakota people. There is a lot of time and work that goes into quillwork. The quills are removed from a porcupine, then are cleaned, dyed, soaked until pliable and woven or sewn into designs unique to every family or tribe. Quillwork is not water resilient and should be well taken care of.
