Beaded Earrings with Quills - Dark Red
Beaded Earrings with Quills - Dark Red
These earrings are made with porcupine quills which are strung through the hallow of the quill accompanied with beads fit through pony beads and small feathers. They are about 2.25 inches tall.
Quillwork is one of the many traditional art forms of the Lakota people. There is a lot of time and work that goes into quillwork. The quills are removed from a porcupine, then are cleaned, dyed, soaked until pliable and woven or sewn into designs unique to every family or tribe. Quillwork is not water resilient and should be well taken care of.
