Porcupine Quill Earrings - Lime Green Diamonds
Porcupine Quill Earrings - Lime Green Diamonds
These earrings are made with dyed porcupine quills wrapped around rawhide cut in diamonds. They are about an inch and a quarter wide and just under 1.75 inches tall. (Not including the hook and jump rings)
Quillwork is one of the many traditional art forms of the Lakota people. There is a lot of time and work that goes into quillwork. The quills are removed from a porcupine, then are cleaned, dyed, soaked until pliable and woven or sewn into designs unique to every family or tribe. Quillwork is not water resilient and should be well taken care of.
