These unique earrings are made with wire covered with woven porcupine quills, finished with nickle plated earring hooks. They are just over 1.75 inches long.
Quillwork is one of the many traditional art forms of the Lakota people. There is a lot of time and work that goes into quillwork. The quills are removed from a porcupine, then are cleaned, dyed, soaked until pliable and woven or sewn into designs unique to every family or tribe. Quillwork is not water resilient and should be well taken care of.
